As cooler weather approaches, it’s time to prep and store your summer toys. Boats, All Terrain Vehicles, and Recreational Vehicles all need some love and care when being put into winter storage. Whether you are using outdoor or indoor storage, here are a few tips to ensure their care:
Cover- More than anything else, a good and fitted cover will protect your goods. Make sure there are no tears or wearing in the fabric.
Stabilize- Draining fuel isn’t always a good idea nor is it always an option. If you want everything to start up again in the spring, head to your local supply store and grab some fuel stabilizer. Make sure you talk with a professional for help with exact amounts!
Clean- Dirt and grime can reach into every nook and cranny. The less present at the start of storage, the easier getting things up and running again will be.
Change- Oil and Antifreeze need to be regularly changed because of grime that builds up during use. Changing both before winterizing can help keep the insides clean and pretty for springtime outing ease!
Remove- To save the life of your electronics (and batteries) remove them before storage. These sorts of things don’t do well with dramatic changes in temperature and can have some drastic reactions.
Repair- Putting off repairs over the colder months can cause the problem to grow. Repair and damages prior to storage for prolonged life and prolonged fun!
Rent- As the holidays approach, we know that extra space in your driveway could better serve family and friend rather than your boat or RV. Rent an enclosed or open storage space for safe-keeping! We here at Bestway Self Storage would be happy to look after your summer toys and keep them secure while you worry about more important things!
